Comparisons to other resorts??

I have never been to this resort. Any comparisons to other chains? We have been to the Grand Lidos, Breezes and Sandals resorts.

You will find lots of information on the Desire resorts here if you read some old threads. In general, the Desire resorts cater to couples only and appear to market to the lifestyle groups or lifestyle inclined couples. Non lifestyle couples do attend however. The entertainment is geared to the nude hot tub and disco. The disco offers a 'playroom' for those that like to put on a show or find others for mutual sexual entertainment. They do not have shows/performers during dinner. Desire Cancun is your only option for this activity.

Desire Cabo is now another brand. Nude is no longer available there due to a high rise building next door that can see into the resort.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 1st visit to Desire Riviera Maya. We found that it exceeded our expectations. The resort is kept spotless, the rooms are clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The staff is hard working, very friendly and the service is impeccable.

The quality and choice of the food at all the restaurants is well above average. The quality of the drinks as well as the bar service is excellent. The overall atmosphere at the resort is sensual and not raunchy. While daytime is quieter, there are many games to participate in by the entertainment staff. Many people spend the day relaxing on the beach beds or comfortable lounges around the pool. It doesn't have the energy of the Hedonism Resorts but there is plenty of opportunity to socialize in the pool, hot tub and at the many bars on property, where there never seems to be a wait to get served.

At night, after dinner & before disco, there is nice entertainment at the lobby bar. Comfortable couches & beds are available for relaxing, socializing and listening to the music under the stars. The Disco is fun. There is a contest each night, good dance music, 3 Poles to play on, and plenty of seating.

In a nutshell, yes it is possible to combine nudity, sensuality and 1st class treatment...and its called Desire!

so then to go a bit further in the comparison, the Hedo resorts are similar to Desire, but the energy level is a notch higher? Desire basically allows couples only, where Hedo allows singles, correct? What about comparison of age groups? Since Hedo sounds a bit wilder, do the ages there tend to be younger?

I know, lots of questions. We're planning a trip next year, and just trying to glean as much info as possible so we can make an educated decision.

It's my opinion that the +40 crowd is a bit wilder than the younger guests at Hedo. They have a place to really let loose and don't give a crap about image. They play silly games and like it. Men dress up in naughty school girl outfits just for the laugh. Few 20 year olds are confindent enough to do that.

Very good point. Makes sense that the +40 crowd would have less inhibition about those kinds of things. Sometimes I forget how 20 somethings can be (we have no kids). Thanks for the clarification.

I guess I have seen a mix of ages being "adventurous".....alcohol definitely eliminates/minimizes inhibitions!! LOL!!

I think it's more about what H2Diva wrote that the older crowd "could give a crap about image". My impression from working around a lot of 20 somethings through 30's is that they're generally not as accepting of people "as is". Especially the millenials, who are hard driving and pretentious about most anything

I think it is also cultural. I've found the Europeans to be much more tolerant of people with differences than us American. There are exceptions but I find that in general.

Thank you. I know it is a generalization but most Europeans I've run into won't complain like us Americans do. The British especially are willing to put up with so much without complaints.

I think it is a generalization, because I can tell you that my wife and I have run into a few really rude Europeans on various cruises we've been on. They definitely have a different attitude about things, but it's not always good.

I think any culture will have a few "bad apples" but in general, the Europeans are very tolerant. Even our time in Paris, we have heard all the comments of the Parisians being rude, but we only experienced it once. Everyone else we encountered was very friendly.
